You should never go through life not knowing your history. Not hearing stories of your past. You should always ask questions. Even the hard ones. Even the tough stuff! People have secrets I understand that, but why hold things in and be stressed or live life in denial. Speak up, Let it out!
Today I learned some interesting facts of my History.
My Leverett Family.
My Grandfather Marshall Leverett HIS grandmother was married to a black man and in a romantic relationship with a white man. The white man Killed my great-great-grandfather which was her husband. He hung him, right outside the house while the kids were there. They are thinking this traumatic experience may be the reason my Great Grandfather was Deaf/Mute. But you never know.
So anyway, apparently the white man was in love with my great great grandmother and bought her a car among other things.. ohh the drama..
So another thing I learned.
My Williams Family
So my Great Grandpa Joseph Williams was KIDNAPPED by GYPSIES!! Can you imagine? As a small child the gypsies kidnapped him. I am guessing because he was toooo cute. I believe he was half cuban and half indian. He was a beautiful child almost looked like a girl from what I was told. I will try to dig up photos later. He had hair down past his waist.
Another funny story My Great Grandmother Catherine Williams and my Grandmother Grace Leverett were getting on a bus, Grandma Catherine was very light, she passed for white most the time. But anyway my grandmother was light but had a little more color to her. Lol let me get to my point. The point is, Grandma Catherine told my grandma grace to get on the bus in front of her and some white man stopped my grandma grace who was only a child at the time and told her " you let that white woman get on the bus first!" My grandma Catherine beat the hell out of that man with her umbrella!
I am going to start keeping up with the stories I get told just to have these memories
